In the late 1970s Amtrak utilized these locomotives from SOUTHERN in service on a few of their passenger trains;frequently on the Seattle to Los Angeles, Coast Starlight. SOU 6147J, 6148F and 6146L were all spotted in Amtrak service working together or separately.
